✔ Is the patient stable for transfer? Perform an ABCDE assessment

✔ Inform the patient of the need for transfer and check ID band and allergy status

✔ Check infection status. Does the receiving department know?

✔ Check if the patient requires pain relief prior to transfer and if a PCA is in use it will not run out during the journey

✔ Check the patient has patent IV access

✔ Stop any non-essential infusions

✔ Ensure you have all necessary equipment, see below

✔ Ensure your colleagues know that you will be away from the ward so your other patients can be supervised
