Airway management:

During the airway assessment, treat any problems as you go:

  • Call for help

  • Apply 15 litres oxygen via non-rebreathe mask

  • Use suction to clear any secretions

  • Open the airway using an airway manoeuvre

  • Use airway adjuncts to maintain an open airway

  • Consider the recovery position
